The benefits of theatre
Not only will taking part in a musical theatre performance give the children involved a sense of achievement and pride, providing them with memories that they will take with them for the rest of their life, theatre also provides children with a number of key skills that can help them with almost every aspect of their day to day lives, at school and in the home.
CONFIDENCE Performing arts builds confidence and self esteem, promoting a positive mental wellbeing, reducing anxiety and stress. Drama offers children a safe space to take risks and explore their own individuality.
CREATIVITY AND IMAGINATION Performing arts teaches children to think creatively through imagination. Theatre is the best place for children to explore the endless possibilities of their imaginations!
PHYSICAL WELLBEING We all know how difficult it can be to get our children away from the screens and doing something active. Dance is a great way to get that heart pumping whilst having fun!
EMPATHY Performing in different shows and playing different characters allows a child to explore different emotions and situations that they may not have experienced themselves, this develops empathy and the ability to put themselves in other peoples shoes.
TEAMWORK Putting on a show requires a lot of team work, the children must learn to work together, supporting each other and learning off of each other.
HARD WORK CAN BE FUN! We believe it's important for children to experience that real sense of achievement and to surprise themselves with what they are capable of. Practice can make perfect and hard work can also be a lot of fun.
Here at Act2Act Youth Theatre we pride ourselves on not only providing our cast with performance opportunities but also helping to develop their confidence, self esteem and giving them a place to take risks, have fun and discover their own individuality. We believe that theatre can be such a positive experience for children and young people, giving them some amazing skills that they can take with them for life.
